Welcome To The Hive…Blog
Hello & welcome to the very 1st blog post!
We’re so glad you found your way here. This is the very first blog post from The Hive Mental Health Services — and it feels like the perfect time to kick things off because… big news:
This May, The Hive grew from just me to a full team of buzzing brilliance. We’ve added four incredible counsellors to the practice — and if you’re curious to get to know them, hop over to our Team Page for the inside scoop
I wanted this blog to be zero fluff, and all realistic talk, advice, and experiences. You deserve the real stuff from us- and that is exactly what I hope to deliver. Each counsellor at The Hive has a unique path that brought them to today, and on those journeys we have picked up knowledge, resilience and so many other great traits that add to our education and training.
We also hope to highlight other resources, services and events in the Saskatoon Area that readers can benefit from attending, experiencing or accessing. The Hive is a small business, and we love uplifting other small businesses however we can, because we understand that a purchase from a small company isn’t more gas for the yacht, it’s swimming lessons for a kid, soccer registration, keeping the power on, or a number of other simple life experiences.
Eventually, we’re dreaming of a “Dear Dr. Mrs. Mabel” section (think old-school advice column, but with fewer corsets and more trauma-informed sass). A place where you can ask real questions and get honest, thoughtful responses, no appointment necessary (though yes, we do hope to see you in session someday).
Why We’re Doing This
Maybe you follow us on social media, maybe you don’t (but you could be- hint hint), if you do- you’ll know how important community is, how much we value giving back. Since starting my practice I have done a warm meal night each year, have given session discounts in september & november for clients who bring in non-perishables so we can donate to the food bank for thanksgiving and christmas. We push our sliding scale, and try really hard to bridge the financial gap. I wanted The Hive to be more than just a counselling practice, I wanted it to be “the village”- and I want this to be more than just a therapy blog. We want to spotlight amazing local resources that often get overlooked, share unique events around town, and create something that actually feels helpful-even if all you do is read it on your lunch break or while hiding from your kids in the bathroom.
So go easy on us as we find our blogging groove-we’re therapists, not journalists- and if there’s a topic you’d love to see us tackle, sign up for our newsletter and drop us a suggestion below.
Thanks for being here. We hope to serve you well.
