Labour & Delivery Support

At The Hive, we know that labour is not just a physical process, but an emotional and transformative experience. Birth can bring excitement, fear, uncertainty, and strength all at once — and no matter how it unfolds, you deserve to feel supported and empowered.

Our doula provides continuous, calm presence during labour and delivery, offering comfort techniques like breathing, movement, massage, and mindfulness, while also holding space for your emotions and choices. We don’t replace your doctor or midwife; instead, we work alongside your medical team, advocating for your preferences and ensuring your voice is heard.

Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, home birth, water birth, or are navigating unexpected changes in your plan, we focus on creating a birth environment that feels safe, respectful, and affirming. Our goal is that you leave your birth experience feeling confident, cared for, and proud of the strength it took to bring new life into the world.

When you work with our doula, you’re never alone in the final stretch. She goes on-call for you at 37 weeks for singletons and 34 weeks for multiples, meaning you have round-the-clock access from that point forward. Whether labour starts in the middle of the night, during work hours, or takes an unexpected turn, you can reach out knowing your doula is ready to join you.

Being on-call ensures you have consistent, trusted support the moment labour begins- offering guidance over the phone, meeting you at home, or joining you at your chosen birth place. This commitment means you don’t have to second guess if someone will be there when you need them most.

Fertility Support

We understand that the fertility journey can be filled with hope, stress, and uncertainty. Our doula provides emotional steadiness and practical support through each stage: from trying to conceive to navigating medical appointments. She can accompany you to ultrasounds, procedures, or fertility consultations, helping you feel grounded, informed, and never alone. As a certified Doula with a nursing background Melissa is able to bridge the gap between the medical system and her clients needs during fertility and conception.

Fertility challenges can place strain on individuals and couples, both physically and emotionally. We hold space for those feelings while offering reassurance, advocacy, and gentle guidance. Whether you’re seeking comfort, education, or simply someone to sit beside you in the waiting room, our doula helps you feel supported through every step of the process.

Post Partum & Newborn Support

The days and months after birth can be just as overwhelming as labour itself. Sleepless nights, physical recovery, and the new rhythm of caring for a baby can feel like chaos — and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Postpartum doula support can include meal prep, light tidying, infant care, and maternal care so you have space to heal, rest, and adjust. Whether it’s overnight support so you can sleep, guidance with feeding and soothing, or simply a calm presence in the home, our doula helps reduce the mayhem of life with a newborn.

We support parents as they step into new roles, making sure you feel nurtured, respected, and more confident in caring for yourself and your baby.

Loss Support

Not every reproductive journey ends with a baby in your arms. Fertility struggles, miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss can be devastating, leaving families grieving, questioning, and searching for support.

Our doula walks beside you through these tender experiences with compassion, respect, and gentleness. Support may include presence at medical appointments, during procedures, or in the quiet moments after loss, ensuring you never have to go through it alone. This isn’t about rushing grief — it’s about creating a safe space to process and honor your experience at your own pace.

Lactation Support

Feeding your baby can be one of the most rewarding- and most challenging- parts of early parenthood. Whether you choose to breastfeed, pump, or formula feed, you deserve support that’s practical, informed, and free of judgement.

Our Doula provides hands-on guidance with latch and positioning, feeding cues, burping, and paced bottle feeding. We can also help with milk supply questions, pumping routines, nipple care, and feeding twins or multiples. Lactation support is about more than mechanics-it’s about helping you feel confident, calm, and connected during feeding times.

From the very first feed to navigating cluster feeding, engorgement, or supplementing, our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel informed and empowered in making the best choices for your family.

Prenatal Support

Preparing for birth isn’t just about the big day — it’s about feeling informed, supported, and confident in the weeks leading up to it. Prenatal doula care offers education, planning, and emotional support so you and your family can step into labour feeling grounded and ready.

This can include birth planning, attending prenatal appointments, offering comfort techniques to practice ahead of time, and providing guidance on what to expect in early labour. We also hold space for conversations around fears, hopes, and preferences, helping partners feel involved and connected.

Prenatal support is about more than information — it’s about reassurance. Our goal is to make sure you feel prepared, respected, and empowered as you approach one of life’s biggest transitions.
