Get To Know Me!

Hey there! I’m Melissa a certified Doula who offers fertility, prenatal, labour & delivery, postpartum, and lactation support. It’s important to me to be able to support my families from conception and beyond-hope to hear from you soon!

My Path To Becoming A Doula

I have always been drawn to the beauty of birth, and the absolute profound connection between the birthing individual and their child, and the way that this wild life event can transform absolutely everyone involved. Becoming a doula felt like stepping into a sacred space where I can offer unwavering support, compassion, and care at a time when you need it most.

The empowerment I feel in this role is truly immeasurable. To be present during such an intimate and life changing experience is both humbling and inspiring. Witnessing the strength of the individual as they navigate labour, and knowing I am there to offer both physical comfort and emotional reassurance, fills me with a sense of purpose. The joy of helping an individual feel informed, confident, empowered and in control of their birth journey is incredibly fulfilling, and fills my heart.

Being called to this work is more than a job, it’s truly such a privilege. Every birth I attend is a reminder that I am part of something bigger than myself, supporting the beginning of new life with love and respect.

Birth is a uniquely powerful reminder of the sacredness of life, of how we all come into the world with a story, a journey, and experience. Every birth has the potential to empower not only the birthing individual but also the entire family, community, and society. It’s a celebration of strength, transformation, and love, and I am truly honoured to be apart of it.

My Approach To Being A Doula

As a Doula, I feel like my approach is rooted in true intuition, my calm presence, and deep trust in the birthing process. I hold space for families with a grounded, nurturing energy, meeting each birthing individual exactly where they are…emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I believe in the inherent wisdom of the body, and I aim to help my patients feel deeply supported, seen, and empowered through every phase of their journey.

I never come with an agenda, I come with open hands and an open heart. Whether my patient is planning a home birth, a hospital birth, a water birth, or anything in between, I support informed choices and personal autonomy. I act as a calm, steady presence, offering education, comfort techniques, and emotional support while always respecting your voice and vision for your birth.

I use elements such as grounding practices, mindfulness, and, when desired, holistic tools like herbal care, affirmations, or gentle acupressure, cupping. I truly strive to create a space where my patients feel safe to be vulnerable, powerful, and fully themselves. This experience is 100% about you.

  • Orange.

The colour orange reminds me of warmth, kind of like the glow of a setting sun or a cozy fire, it immediately wraps me in comfort and energy.

Vitality, it carries this crazy spark of life, bursting with movement, creativity, and enthusiasm.

Courage, it's not loud like red, but bold in its own right, similar to every individual, orange is simply just brave, expressive, and unafraid to be seen.

Joy, it's somewhat playful, youthful, and full of possibility, kind of like laughter that completely erupts up from the soul.

  • My hope for each of my clients is that they truly feel safe, supported, and deeply seen throughout their journey, whether through fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or loss. I want them to feel empowered to trust their bodies, their instincts, and their voice.

I hope they feel heard without judgment, respected in every decision, and surrounded by compassionate care. My wish is that they never feel alone, that they know I am there, not to lead, but to walk beside them, holding space with tenderness and strength.

Whether their journey is smooth or full of unexpected turns, I hope they feel in control, respected, and informed. I want them to carry forward the memory of their experience with pride, clarity, and peace knowing they were the author of their own story.

Above all, my greatest hope is that each patient leaves this chapter feeling powerful, nurtured, and transformed not just by the birth of a baby, but by the birth of a new version of themselves.

  • “Your body is capable of anything. It’s your mind you have to convince.”

  • The sound of chewing, hands down.

  • Every year in June (my birthday month) I do something I’ve never done before. I started this tradition a few years ago. A few of the things I've done are; Skydiving, ziplining down the Whistler mountains, parasailing over the Okanagan, a commercial downtown Vancouver and a boudoir shoot. I choose to do new and fun things because joy is healing, and life is meant to be experienced, not just survived and I feel like for so long, I was only surviving. Exploring the unfamiliar, playing, laughing, and trying new things helps me stay connected to curiosity, creativity, and the present moment. It brings lightness, especially during seasons of deep work, emotional care, or transformation.
